The NACE office was overwhelmed with the number of entries received from schools for the 2014 NACE Poetry Competition, receiving over 1,000 from schools both nationally and internationally.
The standard was so high that NACE has awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each phase along with highly commended awards to all the shortlisted poems. Anne Fine OBE, our judge for this competition said:
“It has been a joy to read these wonderfully distinctive and inventive poems. The standard was so high that I found it almost impossible to choose winners. And since so many of the entries showed such enormous talent, I hope that absolutely everyone who entered the competition keeps writing whenever they can.” Anne Fine OBE
The winning entries are:
1st place with a poem entitled ‘I wonder’, Ella P, age 9, The Marist Preparatory School
